I believe this is called the silver war badge and was issued to veterans who were discharged from service due to wounds, sickness or advancing years. Measures approximately 32 mm across with a pierced interior design of a crown over the letters gri. The reverse is numbered c21940 which designates this maongst the first issue of these badges in 1916. Excelelnt condition with some natural tarnish and patina and no damage of any kind.
